1. Are campfires allowed?

Campfires are allowed in designated fire pits only, pursuant to the current regulations in effect by the Douglas Forest Protection Association. For inland information, call 541-672-6507 or check online at the Douglas Forest Protective Association website. For coastal information, call 541-267-3161 or check online at the Coos Forest Protective Association website.  We will also keep an update on our phone lines at 541-957-7001 OPTION 2.  

2. What is a campsite?

A campsite is defined as a physical site consisting of parking space for one camping unit and one tow vehicle.

3. What are camper stay limits?

Maximum stay seasonal limits:

 Coast-Peak Season: May 1 to October 31: 14 nights

 Coast-Low Season: November 1 to April 30: 30 nights

 Inland-Peak Season: Memorial Day weekend thru Labor Day: 14 nights

 Inland-Low Season: Day after Labor Day thru Thursday before Memorial Day Weekend: 30 nights

 Regardless of the start date, the end date of a planned stay will determine the applicable season for maximum nights allowed.

 Any stay over 30 days but less than 90 days will require a long-term agreement.

No customer will be allowed to stay more than 90 days without prior approval of the Park’s Director. This will be accomplished thru an extension of an existing long-term agreement subject to a recommendation of the Park’s Coordinator.

4. What are check-in and check-out times?

Check in time is 2:30PM, and check out time is 11:00AM. This applies to all campsites, cabins and yurts.

If your spot is ready you may check in no earlier the noon. 

5. What Is a camping unit?

A camping unit is defined as any unit that is used for sleeping such as:

• 5th wheels
• Camper vans
• Motor homes
• Pickups with canopy or camper
• Tents

6. What is a tow vehicle?

A tow vehicle is either the vehicle being towed or the vehicle towing the camping unit. Any other vehicles are to be considered extra vehicles.

7. Is an additional tent allowed in a site with a camping unit?

A small tent is allowed to accompany the primary camping unit in the campsite. A small tent is defined as a tent designed to be occupied by no more than two people. Any larger tents must be placed in another site and pay the appropriate fee.

8. How do I change or cancel a reservation?

Changes and/or cancellations must be made in accordance with the cancellation policy of the particular site that you have reserved. For any cancellations, changes, and rescheduling please contact the office at 541-957-7001, Monday through Friday, between the hours of 9AM and 4:30PM or email us at parks@co.douglas.or.us.  

9. What options do I have at Mildred Kanipe Campground?

We offer fifteen (15) non hook-up equestrian sites that require a horse or similar animal.  There are also six (6) non hook-up sites that allow you to enjoy the park with a tent or RV.
